Local Lift: Esteban’s Mexican Restaurant, Hai's Nails, & The Book Rack GIVEAWAY
This week, I’m excited to highlight a few of my favorite small businesses here on Whidbey Island: Esteban’s Mexican Restaurant is a local mainstay, Hai’s Nails is your go-to spot when you need fresh nails, and The Book Rack is the perfect place for shopping when you need to pick up a gift or your next read!
As many of you already know, I love all things Whidbey. The small businesses on our island hold a special place in my heart, and I love supporting and promoting independent businesses. I started this Local Lift feature back at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic when so many local businesses were hit hard.
For each Local Lift giveaway, I purchase gift cards to the featured businesses to give away to the community. And at the same time, I get to show off Whidbey Island businesses that I love!

According to Yelp, their most popular dishes include Chile Colorado, Chicken Enchiladas, Ground Beef Tacos, Taquitos, and the Chili Relleno Burrito. That’s really just the tip of the iceberg though when it comes to their delicious eats; their menu is huge and also has everything from fun appetizers and chimichangas to fajitas and desserts. Hai’s Nails
Located in Oak Harbor, Hai’s Nails is absolutely raved about by happy customers on Yelp! There are many different manicure and pedicure options, and many people especially rave about the excellent customer service, the relaxing setting, and of course the gorgeous high-quality manis and pedis.
The Book Rack
Family owned and operated for 40+ years, The Book Rack in Oak Harbor sells tons of books, games, and other gift items. They even host events like game meet ups, story time for little ones, book clubs, and more. If you need a new book to read, you’ll find a ton of resources if you’d like a recommendation, but you can also just spend hours browsing and exploring all that The Book Rack has to offer. They frequently update their Facebook and Instagram, so follow along to stay up to date on new books, products, and events.
