This ongoing Local Lift series is here to help boost local businesses—in addition to featuring several Whidbey Island businesses and giving their offerings a shoutout, each Local Lift also includes a giveaway where we purchase gift cards and give them away to our community. Oak Harbor Island Cafe serves up classic American bar food and hearty helpings! Their extensive menu offers something to satisfy everyone in your group, and you can choose from a large variety of sandwiches, burgers, pizza, pasta, grinders, desserts, wings, salads, and appetizers (like mac & cheese bites, poutine, coconut shrimp and other classics). CreAda’s Hair & Wig Salon
Located on Pioneer Way in Oak Harbor, CreAda’s Hair & Wig Salon offers several different services. They sell wigs, and you can visit the store to see what they have to offer. If you don’t see anything that’s quite right, you can work with them to create something custom! CreAda’s Hair & Wig Salon also offers extensions and weaves and they have a huge selection of different types of hair to choose from. Their stylists also offer eyebrow, lip waxing, eyelash extensions, haircuts, perms, color services, and much more. Kau Kau Corner
This much-loved and highly rated restaurant in Oak Harbor serves “Ono (tasty) homemade Hawai'i cuisine, dessert & drinks made with Aloha.” Their extensive, flavor-packed menu is sure to satisfy both hunger + flavor cravings, and a few of their most popular menu dishes include Kalua Pig, Spam Musubi, Loco Moco, Poke Bowl, and Portuguese Fried Rice. Kau Kau Corner does have very limited seating (especially during COVID), so you’ll want to plan to pick up your order to go!

Oak Harbor Playtown
Oak Harbor is one of the many businesses that had to completely pivot as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. For several months they had to close their play area, and only just recently on October 20th, 2020 were they able to open with a very limited capacity. There are limits on how many people are allowed in the play area at a time, and there are specific times they are open for play sessions as well.
During the last several months, Oak Harbor Playtown has greatly expanded their cafe services and they are open for pickup and delivery! You can choose from a selection of beverages including espresso drinks, Italian sodas, Red Bull spritzers, flavored lemonades, root beer floats, and tea.
