Local Lift *Extra Special Edition*: Chrysalis Yoga Shala GIVEAWAY

This week’s Local Lift is an extra special edition! We are just focusing on one Whidbey Island business this week, and that is Chrysalis Yoga Shala in Oak Harbor.

First of all, if you are new here, welcome! Local Lift is a “small business boost” feature that I started at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. As you know, things changed very quickly in March 2020, and many businesses had to quickly shut down or drastically change the way they do business. This has been especially hard on small, locally owned, and independent businesses. With each Local Lift, I purchase gift cards to local Whidbey Island businesses to give away to the community while also spotlighting the businesses along the way. Thank you for stopping by, and thank you for shopping local!

This week’s giveaway includes:

  • SIX one-month unlimited passes to Chrysalis Yoga Shala in Oak Harbor - value of $100 each

Six different winners will be drawn at random. To enter, head on over to this Facebook post and follow the instructions. (All you have to do is leave a comment on the linked Facebook post to enter!) Deadline for giveaway entries is 5pm PST on Thursday, October 28, 2021.

On October 16, 2021, owner of Chrysalis Yoga Shala Carol Sele shared some very heartfelt words on her Facebook page, which are public here if you would like to see the original post. Being a small business owner during COVID-19 has come with so many intense challenges.

Here is part of what Carol shared in her post:

“I've felt, as I think you may have, more isolation and fear than I've ever felt before. I kept working and showing up in the beginning, and at the height of our COVID crisis. I think y'all know I've been the proud owner of a yoga studio here on Whidbey Island for almost 9 years but the shut-downs have been tumultuous with no end of the possibility of closing down permanently (especially with the Delta variant surge.).”

“If you've ever been to our community studio, you may have felt something special, a safe, welcoming and uplifting atmosphere where the ambience is fragrant and peaceful, I can't imagine not going in there and taking that big deep breath where I always knew ‘I am in the right place at the right time.’”

“There have been many, many angels and our teachers who have kept the studio and my calling of teaching yoga alive. but the unforeseen consistent lack of attendance is indicative that I may be called to doing something or being somewhere else.  And believe me, I know along with thousands upon thousands of other small businesses who have had to close, that I am not the only one.”

“But being completely candid, I am giving our studio until December 31 to hopefully pick up in attendance whether local or on zoom, or I will have to at least temporarily close my brick and mortar yoga studio.”

“In other words, I have been sad but am still hopeful. I just want to thank you for checking in not only on me but anyone who comes to your mind. There is much healing and reaching out to do. I love you my friends.”

If you have been thinking about trying yoga, getting back into a consistent yoga practice, or maybe giving someone an early Christmas gift, now is a great time to check out Chrysalis Yoga Shala in Oak Harbor!
