Local Lift: Blush Hair Studio, Chris’ Bakery, & Zanini’s Delicatessen GIVEAWAY

As the school year starts and we enjoy the last few days of summer, it’s time to look ahead and begin a new season! As you know, it is still just as important as ever to support our community and local businesses, and this Local Lift feature is all about giving Whidbey Island businesses a boost!

If you’re new here, welcome! I started Local Lift at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic as a way to support and shine the spotlight on Whidbey Island’s many incredible local and small businesses. With each Local Lift giveaway, I purchased gift cards to businesses and give them away to the community while promoting each business along the way. Thanks for stopping by and it checking out!

This week’s giveaway includes:

  • Two $65 gift cards to Blush Hair Studio

  • Two $25 gift cards to Chris’ Bakery

  • Two $50 gift cards to Zanini’s Delicatessen

Winners will be drawn at random. To enter, head on over to this Facebook post and follow the instructions. (All you have to do is leave a comment on the linked Facebook post to enter!) Deadline for giveaway entries is 5pm PST on Monday, September 20.

Blush Hair Studio

Located at 1020 NE 7th Ave, Suite #1 in Oak Harbor, Blush Hair Studio opened in 2020 and has quickly become a favorite go-to for locals! Blush Hair Studio is truly a “one stop shop” where you can go for many of your beauty needs, including haircuts, hair color (including highlights, corrective color, foilayage/balayage), hair styling, facial waxing, brow tinting, lash extensions, and lash lifts and tinting. They also feature several beauty product collections so you can find the perfect fit for you and your unique beauty needs.

You can meet the team here, check out a photo gallery of their incredible work here, and follow Blush Hair studio on Facebook and Instagram for updates and before/after photos!

Chris’ Bakery

This is a Whidbey Island staple, and if you’ve never been, add it to your Whidbey Island bucket list, stat! Located in Oak Harbor at 1025 NE 7th Ave, Chris’ Bakery was established in 1948 in Seattle, and after 20 years the business moved to Oak Harbor. Today we’re lucky to still be able to enjoy a huge range of treats including cakes for all occasions (they even do cakes for dogs!), cupcakes, pastries, pies (including savory pies), donuts, breads, and more.

We *highly* recommend following Chris’ Bakery on Facebook and Instagram—they share frequent updates about seasonal offerings and different shop updates. For example, this September their flavor of the month is apple cinnamon cake donuts, which come glazed, coated in cinnamon sugar, or with a maple fudge icing. (Ok, to be honest it is kind of dangerous to follow them on social media, especially if you have a sweet tooth—hah!)

Zanini’s Delicatessen

No one quite does hearty homemade Italian like Zanini’s Delicatessen! First of all, you can stop by Zanini’s Deli at 1191 SE Dock Street (beneath Frasers Gourmet Hideaway) and pick up deli items at your convenience. Housemade dishes include things like three cheese tortellini with roasted peppers and asparagus tossed in aunties housemade pesto… minestrone soup… loaded baked potato soup… Italian mac and cheese… Swedish meatballs… and much more.

Then, there is Sunday Dinner. Oh boy, if you haven’t ordered Sunday Dinner from Zanini’s yet, you are in for a real treat! Sunday Dinner orders must be placed by noon on Thursday, then on Saturday you can go pick up the dinner between 4-6pm in preparation for a weekend dinner. The dinner includes lasagna, salad, roasted veggies, and homemade Focaccia bread. Click here to learn more!

For updates on Zanini’s latest deli offerings + business updates, follow them on Facebook. Auntie Jackie also occasionally posts on Instagram.
