Welcome to the first Local Lift of 2022!
This week’s Local Lift features small businesses on Whidbey Island that are all located right on Pioneer Way in Oak Harbor. For those who might not be familiar with the area, Pioneer Way in Downtown Oak Harbor is a popular destination for locals and visitors alike. You’ll find a ton of great shopping, top-notch dining, waterfront parks, and more in this treasured community.
If you’re new to this ongoing Local Lift feature, thank you for joining! This small business boost was created at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic to support local independent businesses. With each Local Lift, I purchase gift cards to Whidbey Island businesses and give them away to the community. In the process I also highlight and promote each business. You can check out previous Local Lifts here, and maybe you’ll find a business you love in the process.

Rustica
Rustica Italian Restaurant and Bar is a local favorite where you can enjoy brunch, lunch, happy hour, dinner, drinks, and dessert. Rustica has several standout features that make it such a special Whidbey Island mainstay: it’s a “farm-to-fork” restaurant with seasonal offerings; their drink menu features many local beers, wines, and ciders; and the decor is made by a local artist from reclaimed materials on the island. The utmost care has gone into each and every detail, from the delicious food to the inviting atmosphere.
You cannot go wrong when ordering here, and there are options whether you are gluten-free, vegetarian, or vegan. Enjoy dishes made with fresh house-made pasta, seafood galore, and of course you’ll also discover an abundance of classic Italian cuisine (like spaghetti, carbonara, colognese, risotta, etc.) on the menu as well.

Wind & Tide Bookshop
Located in Historic Downtown Oak Harbor, Wind & Tide Bookshop sells an eclectic variety of books, journals, greeting cards, toys, and other gift items.
