As Whidbey Island heads into Phase 2 of re-opening, many of our local businesses will be changing their offerings, open hours, protocols, etc. Our local businesses have all experienced hardships as a result of COVID-19 closures and restrictions, and we have been trying to help our local Whidbey Island economy by doing weekly small business “boosts”!
In our Local Lift series, we’ve been purchasing items (services, gift cards, etc.) to give away to Whidbey Island locals! Thanks for stopping by, and here’s what we’re giving away this week:

Flyers Restaurant & Brewery
Flyers in Oak Harbor is the perfect summer hangout—they’ve got a great patio where you can sip on an ice cold beer and chow down on a juicy burger! Not only does Flyers offer a welcoming, laid-back atmosphere for hanging out in, but they also have a huge menu that includes several different types of burgers, wings, sandwiches, dips, soups, tacos, salads, seafood favorites, and more. And of course, they’ve got 12 beers on tap, and a “test flight” includes six 4-oz samples of Flyers brand beer so you can try ‘em all! You don’t have to be a beer enthusiast to enjoy hanging out here, though—they also serve wine by the glass, cider, gluten-free and non-alcoholic beer, and lots of other non-alcoholic beverages as well.

Rustica
Located right in the heart of Oak Harbor along Pioneer Way, Rustica Cafe, Wine Bar, & Kitchen is open for dine-in again (according to their Facebook page)! Pop in to enjoy a drink and an appetizer at the bar, or stay for a full sit-down meal complete with dessert out on the sunny patio or in the cozy, wood-accented interior. This charming Italian restaurant offers an extensive menu of flatbreads, salads, soups, pastas, sandwiches, and more. They even have vegan and gluten-free options, so everyone in your group can find something to enjoy. You can also choose from a large selection of wines, including local wines, some of which are made right here on Whidbey Island!

Blush Hair Studio
This new Oak Harbor salon is open and ready to take care of all of your hair-related needs! Women, men, and kids can all get their hair cut at Blush Hair Studio, and this studio also offers balayage, foilyage, highlights, perms, conditioning treatments, special occasion styling, beard trims, waxing on the face, brow tints, and more. Chances for Dessert
Located right on Pioneer Way in Oak Harbor, Chances for Dessert has got all of your dessert needs (and your sweet tooth) covered! They offer SO many different flavors of cupcakes, custom cakes, cheesecakes, delectable pastries… and more.
Right now they’re taking pre-orders if you’d like something special—currently, they have several different cheesecake flavors, cupcakes (you can put together your own box with your preferred flavor selection), salted caramel tiramisu cake slides, Oreo krispies, and brownies that you can order in advance. Getting something special to go is the perfect way to sweeten up any birthday party, graduation celebration, or other special occasion, *especially* while so many people continue to have socially distanced celebrations.

Whidbey Island Bagel Factory
With locations in both Clinton and Oak Harbor, Whidbey Island Bagel Factory has become one of those “must visit” spots on Whidbey Island for locals and out-of-towners alike. Featuring authentic New York-style bagels, these boiled and baked creations come in an impressive 23 different flavors! Of course, they’ve got classics like “everything” bagels, onion, and sesame, but you can also find more unique flavors like snickerdoodle, rosemary chive sea salt, and bacon cheddar. For spreads, you can enjoy flavors like cranberry orange cream cheese, honey butter, sockeye smoked salmon and caper cream cheese, and more.
