Local Lift: Riverside Cafe, Happy Nails, Lotus Tea Bar & Studio, Timothy Haslet, Whidbey Coffee GIVEAWAY
Autumn is right around the corner, and that means school is starting up again, the sun is setting earlier, and all of the fall traditions we look forward to are on the horizon. This year looks a bit different than usual as our community and local Whidbey Island businesses continue to be impacted by COVID-19; we can all do our part to help our local economy by shopping local when possible!
Each week I’ve been doing a “small business boost” by purchasing gift cards to local businesses and giving them away to Whidbey Island locals.

When you need to refresh your nails, treat yourself at Happy Nails & Spa! Located at 328 SE Pioneer Way Oak Harbor, WA 98277 in the heart of Downtown Oak Harbor, this Whidbey Island nail salon is ready to take care of all of your manicure and pedicure needs. They consistently receive excellent reviews on Yelp, and in recent months people have commended Happy Nails & Spa for having a very clean space, for following safety precautions due to COVID-19, and immaculate, detail-oriented nail design.

Lotus Tea Bar & Studio
Located at 710 SE Fidalgo Ave Oak Harbor, WA 98277, Lotus Tea Bar & Studio is a one-stop-shop for a health-focused “pick me up”! People love how laidback the atmosphere is here, and you can take yoga classes (all levels are welcome!) and enjoy a sandwich and tea. Their sandwiches are named after yoga poses (and there are options for vegetarians), and their expansive selection of dozens and dozens of teas is truly impressive. Stop by and enjoy a yoga class, then visit with classmates over lunch… it’s the perfect combo!

Artist Timothy Haslet
Local Whidbey Island artist Timothy Haslet creates vibrant, captivating impressionistic paintings, many of which depict iconic Whidbey Island scenes. In addition to being heavily involved in the Whidbey Island arts community, Timothy also has a landscaping business that constantly inspires him. You can read more about Timothy Hasley’s artistic background and the different Whidbey Island art organizations that he is involved with here.

Whidbey Coffee
This local staple has been serving the Whidbey Island community since 1989, and you can find 4 locations throughout the island (and locations in a few other nearby cities too!). You can pick up coffee to enjoy at home, or grab one of Whidbey Coffee’s signature drinks and a delicious pastry. People especially rave about their Famous Frozen Moka, and you’ll find classic espresso beverages, tea, Italian sodas, hot chocolate, frappes, milkshakes, and smoothies on their menu as well.
