This week’s Local Lift showcases a few fantastic small businesses in Oak Harbor on Whidbey Island. Each of these local eateries serves up deliciousness—discover a favorite local drive-thru coffee spot, a smoothie shop with tons to choose from, and a restaurant + brewery with a hearty menu and refreshing brews!
If you’re new here, welcome! I started this Local Lift feature at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many of our local businesses on Whidbey Island have experienced significant challenges due to the pandemic, and in addition to spotlighting local businesses in this series, I’ve also been buying gift cards to businesses to give away to Whidbey Island residents. Flyers is an Oak Harbor staple, and you can count on this restaurant + brewery combo for hearty eats and delicious brews. Flyers Restaurant & Brewery has an extensive menu that makes it easy to keep everyone in your dining group happy—discover their award-winning fresh Angus beef burgers, chicken burgers, sandwiches, soups, salads, wings, seafood, and classic sides and appetizers (like several different types of fries, fried pickle chips, onion rings, and more). Of course, Flyers also offers a selection of Flyers brand beer, plus wine.

Hot Shot Espresso
Hot Shot Espresso in Oak Harbor is a cute little coffee stand located right off of Midway Boulevard and State Route 20 (it’s in the same parking lot as Chevon/Midway Carwash and Tokyo Stop Teriyaki). This convenient drive-thru coffee spot receives great reviews and is noted for having excellent coffee, delicious espresso drinks, prompt and friendly service, and reasonable prices.
